This week I made another positive (I hope) change in my life, and decided to let go of a job I stuck to for the sake of the paycheck it brought, the past 3 years. I didn’t like it much, and lately, with taking on clients for the job I actually enjoy doing, it started weighing on me. But still it was a steady paycheck and I had to give myself some pap talks before making the decision of walking away from it. The sense of relief I felt once I did was huge. The day after though, I found myself needing a lot of encouragement and I did panic a little bit. These are the times in which I go back to the little notebook I have (yes I’m old-fashioned that way) with words and quotes I collected over the years, quotes that either move me emotionally – like favorite poems and such, or inspirational quotes.
A while ago, when I started blogging actually, I turned one of these quotes into a wall art-it’s hanging above my desk, and I find myself staring at it a lot, when I need a boost of courage. It’s a quote by Vivian Green that always remind me that being brave is worth it.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass,
It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
The image of dancing in the rain is such a lovely one. Dancing it out, in the rain or in the sunshine, always get me through the more challenging times.
The other two quotes that “spoke” to me this week, I went ahead and made art wall of again. Printed them out, stuck them in an IKEA frame, and added them to my work space.
The first one is by Joseph Campbell:
“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls”.
Follow your Bliss, is such a powerful advice to me. It sounds obvious, but many of us don’t get to do that, and many of us struggle to realize where and what our Bliss is. The reminder of following my inner voice and trust that it would lead me to the right way is something I need to internalize and practice, we all do.
The last one is an Audrey Hepburn quote, she is the ultimate elegance icon to me and I was fascinated with her since I was a little girl.
“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
This quote is one of my all-time favorites, there is so much optimism, humor and fun in it that it always put a smile on my face, which is why made the print of her words. Hope you enjoyed these quotes, would love to read a few of your favorites too, I am always happy to discover some new ones. I attached the printable version below, In case you are in need of some inspiration of your own.
